Myopia, or nearsightedness, is a common condition where the eye is growing faster and longer than it should. This results in blurry distance vision. It also causes weakening of some of the structures in the eye which can lead to eye health problems.
It is now possible to treat and drastically slow down the progression of myopia. Here at HILL EYECARE, we specialize in the treatment of nearsightedness in children and teens. We offer 2 treatment options in our office: MiSight contact lenses- These are the first and only contacts lenses that are FDA approved for myopia control in children as young as 8 years old. Low dose Atropine therapy- These are eyedrops that your child uses every night. While not quite as effective as MiSight contacts, it has been shown to slow the progression of myopia and is a great option for those not able to wear contacts It is important to see myopic children and teens more often to monitor for change. Our myopia management program includes these extra visits and is tailored to your child's needs. Schedule an appointment with us to learn more. |
